- The class will consist of 8 “early bird” morning sessions from 7 am to 8 am on the following dates (this will be announced the first week each semester to those registered).
- The students are responsible for the completion of computer work through the http://scdrivered.costech.com site online modules and the coordinating exams. This site must be activated by the instructor before student can access it). These tests must be passed with a grade of 80 or better in order to complete the course. These test modules can be taken over as many times as the student wants until he/she gets their desired score. The final course grade will be comprised of the best scores of the module tests, exams and driving skills grades.
- The students will have eight driving sessions with the driving instructors for a total of 6 hours of in car driving. Each student must obtain permission from his/her regular classroom teacher to attend the in car driving sessions. The student’s teacher can keep the student in that class if his/her attendance is needed on a particular day. Over the length of the semester, with everyone’s cooperation, this procedure will work.
- All students should have their South Carolina Beginner Driver Permit before starting their in car driving sessions. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain their Beginner Permit.
- All payments for the Driver Education course should be made to the Business office at Socastee High School and payment must be received before the Driver Education Certificate (PDLA form) can be awarded the student. Those students who qualify for free or reduced lunch also qualify for free or reduced rates on the Drivers Education course, but it is the responsibility of the student to fill out and submit all necessary paperwork prior to the beginning of school to obtain this discount.
- Once the student has completed the course requirements, he/she will need to pick up a Drivers Education Certificate from the Driving Instructor verifying that he/she has completed the necessary class attendance, passed the online computer tests, passed the in car driving sessions and paid all fees. This certificate (PDLA form) will need to be taken to the DMV office when the student goes to get their full drivers license.
